In the second part of our Braw Bikers Blog Post, we want to introduce you to one of our original Braw Athletes and one of the first members of our Brawtherhood
Our Biking Brawther all the way from New Zealand first found his skill for racing at 15. It didn’t take long for Brook to hit the headlines as he won gold at the Junior World Championships in Canberra only 3 years later. In 2011, he scored two third place finishes on the UCI World Cup circuit in both Canada and on the famed Fort William. He also took the title at the iXS European Downhill Cup round in Todtnau. This set the trend for his racing career, as he moved up to the elite division spending a lot of time on the podiums celebrating his wins. Riding for the Trek World Racing Team in 2013, his success continued winning silver in the World Cup downhill race followed by a triumphant win at the Mountain Creek Spring Classic in New Jersey. However, the awesome start to the season ended early. The risks involved with racing adds thrill however, Brook was in an accident that meant he had to return to New Zealand for Shoulder Surgery. This accident he refers to as ‘a silly little crash’. Having fully recovered, Brook is hitting 2016 with a fierce come back. Newly signed to GT Factory Racing, he is determined to make up for lost time and continue to reclaim his positions on the podiums.
Brook has been with us since the beginning of Braw alongside WolverDean Reilly, names you’ll be familiar with as we named two of beard oils after them in our original series to show our appreciation. We’ve recently re-designed Brooks Label to symbolise joining his new team. This is now a special edition labelled oil, Grafter.
Recognised as one of the most hard working, determined athletes, this quote is seen in numerous interviews when asked why he wanted to start racing: ‘I was always the one who wanted to win bad!.’ It definitely shows in his long list of achievements.

We interviewed Brook ourselves on what makes him proud to be a Braw Athlete:
What are your favourite/most used Braw products?
For sure would be my braw beard wash and then of course my limited edition bulldog beard oil.
What do you find to be the best features of them?
The conditioning of the the wash makes the beard feel lush again then followed by the oil just tops it off with that nice shine!
What’s your secret to growing an awesome beard?
I don’t think I have any secrets I let it get out of hand then trim it every so often but I think a healthy, rugged looking beard beats an overly manicured one.
What do you like about being part of the Braw Beard Oils family?
This will be my 3rd year with them and they are so passionate about there products, they support me 100% in what I do and love how into the sport they are!
We’ll be following Brook this season and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with his victories! GOOD LUCK BROOK!
